| Bill and Becky Jackson
bought the former Johnson Brothers Pharmacy building in December
1996. This
7,000 square foot brick Victorian structure required extensive
renovations, which we did on days off and on weekends before relocating
from Lexington, South Carolina once the upstairs was livable. We
live to the rear of the gallery and use the 1,500 square feet upstairs
as guest quarters.
The gallery opened for business in
October 1999. The
goal of the Jackson Gallery is to promote contemporary art that
is provocative in scope and content. In 2000, we purchased
the space next door and have added a commercial outdoor sculpture
garden, one of the few in the entire region. |
